Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes ready to team up, trash talk at ‘The Match’

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are already very much on the same page ahead of the “The Match” on Wednesday.

The Bills and Chiefs QBs will be taking on future Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers in a 12-hole golf event from Las Vegas.

Ahead of it, Allen and Mahomes are playing a similar tune.

They know the Bucs and Packers quarterbacks can both shoot well on the course. However, the younger pair thinks the trash talking will be their bread and butter.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I don’t know if I’ll be the best golfer there, I hope to be, but I’ll be the best trash talker. I guarantee that,” Allen said via video conference. “When we’re on the course, there’s some things I’ll have to tone down and try not to cross the line between two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and guys that I’ve grown up watching. But, I’ve got to get in their head somehow, so we’ll see what we can do.”

Specifically, both Allen and Mahomes think one of their foes won’t be ready to hear from them.

In recent years, Brady has been much more active off the field than Rodgers. Brady’s learned to hit the right tunes on social media and show his personal humor a bit.

But in doing so, Brady’s clearly put together some work while having a bit of assistance on his various social media accounts.

Both Allen and Mahomes think they’ll dominate the trash talk over Brady because he won’t have that help.

“I think once Tom’s script from his team runs out of jokes, I don’t think he’s going to be able to really think on his feet like that,” Allen said last week during a conference call promoting the event. “I feel like I’ve got a lot of practice and just kind of wit and off-the-cuff stuff. I think Aaron’s a little better in that aspect, but yeah, Tom is going to have his little note card out there and he’s going to run out eventually.”

Mahomes echoed him.

“They’ve been trying to talk trash, but you tell it to their scripted or old jokes that they found on Twitter. So when we get on that golf course, and we get to really talk trash, I know me and Josh are gonna do that. And we’re gonna win the match as well,” Mahomes said per Chiefs Wire.

In addition to the superior smack talk, handing Brady (and Rodgers) a loss on the field will be welcomed in Buffalo, too.
